Johns Hopkins University Sheridan Libraries | UX/UI

Redesign of Search, Navigation, and High Value Internal Pages
Creation of Capacity Tracker for COVID-19 Precautions

What was the Issue?

I collaborated with the design and development teams at SAI Digital to enhance the user experience of the Johns Hopkins Sheridan Libraries website. We solved for a variety of problems including:

  • The confusion that the resource research feature presented
  • Unorganized navigation
  • Inability of users to find key information with ease
  • Way for library visitors to check the available capacity of in-person occupancy

The Project Team

Design Team: Jamie Gray, Creative Director | Rachel Molloy, UI/UX Designer
Development Team: Sarah McVicker, Development Team Lead | Dustin Miller, Senior Front-end Developer | Andrew Qian, Web Developer
Leadership & Project Management: Christine Pierpoint, SVP, SAI Digital

What did we do?

  • Enhanced the resource search feature by distinguishing the resource type and customizing the search experience per each type
  • Created a mega menu style navigation to better display the page content and site structure
  • Strengthened key internal landing pages by designing new components that better displayed information, making the content more scannable and engaging
  • Designed a feature that tracked and clearly displayed the capacity and hours of Sheridan Libraries
  • Provided wireframe and design deliverables for both desktop and mobile to share solutions with the client
